Road closures in Schiedam as from January 6th 2025
We have been informed by the Schiedam town council that the building of a new estate on the area that used to be a parking lot opposite the central station will begin on January 6th and last for approximately two and a half years. During this time several roads near the basilica will be closed which may affect people arriving for Mass by car.
Baptisms and marriages on request.
Liturgical classes once per month every Sunday after Mass for all the children who have registered. Starting again from 15th September 2024.

We have been informed by the Schiedam town council that the building of a new estate on the area that used to be a parking lot opposite the central station will begin on January 6th and last for approximately two and a half years. During this time several roads near the basilica will be closed which may affect people arriving for Mass by car.
- The Overschieseweg will be closed so the Professor Kamerlingh Onneslaan will stop at the Singel.
- The Overschiesedwaarsstraat will be completely closed.
- The Overschiesestraat will become a dead end so it will no longer be a one-way street since traffic will have to turn back at the end.
Tip: The menu button sometimes does not work on certain smartphones. Scroll down to the end of the page and select 'Web' instead of 'Mobile'. The full menu will appear on the left-hand side.

Pray With The Pope, From Your iPhone, Tablet or Smartphone
"The Internet and social media are a resource of our time," the pope said from a balcony overlooking St. Peter's Square while pointing to a tablet. He was explaining that the Vatican has provided a special App called “Click to pray”.
Pope Francis said that he would insert the intentions and the prayer requests for the mission of the Church here so anyone who wants to join in can use the App. The pope approves of modern technology and calls the Web "a gift from God." Now he's given his followers a convenient way to turn on their smart devices and see what the leader of the Catholic Church is praying for at any given time.
The pope would like us to "Pray every day", to "Pray together with others" and "Give to the community."
Pope Francis specifically asks young people to download the app since he would really love to make the Church relevant for younger generations as the proportion of Catholics declines across the world.

The Religious Order of Our Priests

Our priests are from the Dominican Order, also known as the Order of Preachers, which was approved via Papal Bull on December 22, 1216 by Pope Honorius III. This order took its name from its mentor and founder, a Spanish priest Dominic of Caleruega. This Order was primarily centered in the education of the faith as well as preaching the Gospel. It is also through St. Dominic that we have received one of the greatest devotions the Church has ever had – the Most Holy Rosary.
